The notes from our NAIDOC week discussion on What do we mean by Reconciliation? are now available on our website. Thanks again to everyone who came along and contributed to a very interesting conversation with the ACT Reconciliation Council co-chairs, Chris Bourke and Genevieve Jacobs, which covered a lot of different issues and many ideas to follow up.
Request for help
We get great feedback on the value of our monthly bulletins, but need more help to continue these, as I am about to go away for a year and can’t continue to coordinate. If you can help in compiling content or creating the document on the website, or are interested in looking at how best to connect with the ACT community more broadly, please let me know by emailing info@antaract.org.au or come along to our August meeting.
The August bulletin (which will go out after the meeting) will be my last, and would be great to use that chance to hand over to others. I’ve compliled a detailed document on the process to assist, and another volunteer will provide technical support with the website.
ANTaR ACT: August meeting
The next regular monthly meeting for ANTaR ACT will be Monday 12 August, in the Castle Room at King O’Malleys, 6 – 7.30pm. All are welcome to come along. In addition to talking about the future of the bulletin, we’ll be looking at recent advocacy activity (including around the removal of scarred trees) and plans for our annual David Hunter Memorial Lecture. Join the ANUSA Indigenous Department and the rest of the ANU during Week 2 of Semester 2 to celebrate ANU NAIDOC Week! From Monday July 29th to Saturday August 3rd, the ANUSA Indigenous Department are hosting a variety of social, cultural and educational events for Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to explore the national NAIDOC theme of Voice, Treaty, Truth.
All of our events are non-autonomous and so both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, staff and community members are more than welcome to come along.
Economic Issues Faced by Indigenous Australians
