Change the Record – Community is Everything
ANTaR, Amnesty International and the ANU College of Law Reconciliation Action Plan Committee are co-presenting a forum to support the Change the Record campaign and imagine a different justice future for Indigenous Australians living in the ACT.

The statistics of continued high incarceration rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults are grim, with policy makers and scholars struggling to account for the lack of change. However, there are also some good news stories coming out of the ACT, with the ACT Government’s Blueprint for Youth Justice and a range of community initiatives starting to bear fruit, with reduced incarceration rates for Indigenous youth in the ACT.
This forum will bring together people who work in this area to share their knowledge and insights about reforms in the criminal justice system and community initiatives, along with scholars and policy makers who have an interest in restorative justice and justice reinvestment. Discussion will be moderated by ANU law lecturer Mary Spiers Williams, with questions posed by ANU and UC students, as well as an opportunity for impromptu questions.

Discover Indigenous Records at the National Archives
During Reconciliation Week, come face to face with Indigenous records on a tour of ‘Memory of a Nation’ and the Federation Gallery. Hear the story of the Larrakia petition, see a copy of the 1967 Referendum and read letters protesting against the arrest of Albert Namatjira.
Gallery hosts will give tours on Friday 27 May 12.30, Saturday 28 May 11am and 2pm, Monday 30 May – Friday 3 June 12.30pm.

2016 Reconciliation Week at National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA)
In recognition of Reconiliation Week, NFSA presents a short season of Indigenous Australian cinema. These 2pm weekday screenings will be introduced by the curatorial team from NFSA Indigenous Connections. All films $5 each.
